In order to fix this, we utilize an advanced piece of tech called the KB-1 chisel. The KB-1 chisel is useful in making smiles look less “gummy” by reducing the amount of gum tissue or even bone above a tooth, giving the appearance of a longer crown.

Gum Recontouring

At Ivory Dental Aesthetics, we use a KB1 chisel to expose more of a patient’s tooth under the gums without damaging the soft tissues during crown lengthening procedures. Crown lengthening can be used to fix a “gummy smile” that makes teeth look shorter than normal due to excess gum tissue partially covering the teeth. It can also be necessary when there isn’t enough exposed tooth to hold a dental crown.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding, also called cosmetic bonding, involves the addition of a tooth-colored resin to your teeth to improve the overall appearance. It’s pain free, does not require anesthesia, and no permanent alterations are made to the structure of the natural tooth. It can be used to change the shape of the teeth, improve the appearance or repair teeth that are discolored, stained, chipped, or cracked, and to fill large gaps.

Tooth Recontouring

Tooth recontouring or tooth reshaping works by removing small amounts of tooth enamel to change the shape, length, and overall look of the tooth. It’s an effective method of correcting minor imperfections such as small chips, pointy or overly sharp teeth, to adjust the length of a patient’s teeth, to smooth out pits or grooves in tooth enamel, or to adjust uneven teeth.

Smile Whitening

KöR whitening KöR-Seal™ trays are designed to keep liquid out of the trays. In conjunction with KöR whitening gels, these trays provide six to 10 hours of whitening. As a result, debris between a patient’s enamel rods are thoroughly cleansed which rejuvenates the enamel to provide additional aesthetic appeal and make your smile look brighter and more youthful.
